Wisdom teeth are four permanent adult teeth located at the back corners of the mouth and are especially prone to complications due to lack of room to grow, as they are usually the last teeth to erupt. This lack of room, called impaction can result in the tooth growing at an angle causing pain, gum disease, tooth decay and problems in neighboring teeth. Most extractions are simple enough to be performed at the dental office, but occasionally might require a surgical approach. Our dentists prioritize patient comfort and use local, sedation or in rare occasion general anesthesia in line with the complexity of the procedure.
