ENDODONTICS

Treatment to repair and save a badly damaged or infected tooth instead of removing it, is called endodontics. Inside each tooth, beneath the white enamel and a hard layer called dentin, is a soft tissue called pulp. This tissue contains blood vessels, nerves and connective tissue, which help nourish the root of your tooth. When the enamel and dentin of a tooth is damaged by injury or a cavity, this exposes the inner pulp making the tooth sensitive to hot or cold foods, tender or painful to chew. In such cases endodontic therapy helps restore the health of the tooth without needing to extract it or needing other invasive procedures. At East Texas Dental our expert dentists perform a variety of endodontic procedures including endodontic therapy (commonly known as “root canal therapy”), endodontic retreatment, surgery, treating cracked teeth and treating dental trauma. Endodontic therapy can usually be completed in one or two appointments, depending on the condition of your tooth and your unique circumstances. Getting a endodontic therapy is relatively painless and extremely effective. You’ll be back to smiling, biting and chewing with ease in no time.
